China's iron ore import volume may soar in Q4
Thu. 21. Oct. 2010

It is reported that China¡¯s iron ore import volume was expected to rise in the rest of this year, reported by Reuters.

Due to high level of stocks and the prices, China¡¯s steel mills have suspended purchase. Currently, the fallen iron ore price has pushed mills to place orders.

Meanwhile, China¡¯s iron ore import in September has increased by 17.9% to 52.6 million tons; furthermore, dealers have seen the positive outlook in Q4.

Besides, the total import of iron ore from January to September was 457.6 million tons, down by 2.5% year on year.

However, even the import volume is expected to increase in Q4, China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) predicts that China¡¯s iron ore import volume in 2010 would not exceed 627.8 million ton, the record high in 2009.
