ArcelorMittal SA to increase flat product prices in October

Reuters reported that ArcelorMittal South Africa said on Monday that it would raise prices for flat steel products from October, but leave those for long steel unchanged.
It said that prices for flat steel will increase by between 2% to 4%.
It said "International steel prices are continuing to pick up momentum, but these gains are somewhat offset by the continued strong performance of the rand against the US dollar.”
ArcelorMittal SA has been raising prices gradually since the middle of the year, after it had cut them by over 60% since the start of the economic slump in September last year. Prices were increased by between 3% to 5% percent in July and August, but left mostly unchanged in September.
