IMF Will Lower World Economy Outlook, Chief Tells Handelsblatt

April 19 (Bloomberg) -- The International Monetary Fund will lower its growth forecast for the world economy in an announcement this week, Handelsblatt said, citing an interview with IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
“The outlook we are putting forward this week will be worse than the one we had made previously,” Strauss-Kahn told the newspaper. “Until now we were assuming that the world growth rate would be negative by a half to one percentage point. But now it is becoming more negative,” Strauss-Kahn said according to Handelsblatt.
